When we bring in scholars from other insitutions we will have a dinner the evening before the presentation with the visiting scholar and a small number of graduate students.
If there is more interest in dinners than space will allow, invitees will be chosen based on the following criteria
- Regular attendance of the workshop (this means attending all, or most of, the workshops)
- Relevance of the speaker to your own work
Additionally, you must be able to attend the workshop if you attend the dinner. You will not be invited to dinner again if you break this rule.
We also arrange meetings with the visiting speaker the morning before the presentation, and encourage graduate students to sign up for them.
