Warner Reynolds Leadership Academy – April 6, 2018

The event provided opportunities to network, identify plans to develop mentoring relationships, and develop tools for effective communication.  The keynote was delivered by Dr. Odette Harris, MD, MPH, entitled “Mapping Pivotal Moments: How Key Decisions and Mentors Shape Our Journeys.”

Diversity Dialogue, Dr. Candice Norcott, “Sexual Bullying: Experiences and Impacts on Young Women” – April 6, 2018

The last diversity dialogue was presented by Dr. Candice Norcott. Dr. Norcott addressed the ways sexual bullying could affect the likelihood of sexual risk-taking in young women’s lives.

Summer on the South Side – Summer 2017
A series of programs to help you learn and think about facets of diversity and inclusion. These programs included “thinkshops” and discussions on a variety of issues, ranging from implicit bias to gender identity and expression.

Diversity Dialogue, Nahiris Bahamón, MD and Joseph Lee, MD, “Quality Healthcare for Immigrant Families: Access and Advocacy” – June 23, 2017.

The last Diversity Dialogue was presented by Dr. Nahiris Bahamón and Dr. Joseph Lee. Both Dr. Bahamón and Dr. Lee are Residents in the Department of Pediatrics. They discussed the importance of advocating for adequate access to quality health care for immigrant families and individuals. Dr. Bahamón and Dr. Lee shared their own personal stories as immigrants and provide ideas for advocacy.

Warner Reynolds Academy 2017: Mentoring to Advance Faculty in Science and Medicine  – June 16, 2017

The event provided opportunities to network, identify plans to develop mentoring relationships, and develop tools for effective communication.  The keynote was delivered by Dr. Vivian Lewis, MD, entitled “Making Mentoring Work: What The Data Tells Us”.
