Projects From The Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago

By The Bog of Cats

By The Bog of Cats, a University Theater production, featured this tree scenic element. Constructed in the Logan Shop, it consists of an OSB (wood) armature covered with chicken wire, burlap, muslin, and rosin paper. The structure was embedded with lights that were controlled through the console as part of the overall lighting design. Lighting designer Cori Mayer explains, “String lights in the jars were threaded through the body of the tree and fed into edison/stagepin converters behind the platform, then plugged into the stagepin circuits on the floor. They were in three discrete dimmers/channels.”
