Infrastructure and Operations

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) oversees the Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) teams, which include voice and data networking, communications infrastructure, service operations, data center operations and services, service desk, desktop support, collaboration tools, and cloud computing.

The I&O teams provide the networking and voice services that connect UChicago users within the institution and to the world. The teams provide support for the Science DMZ, a purpose-built research network that provides UChicago data intensive researchers a dedicated, high-speed network pathway to collaborate globally. I&O is also responsible for the University’s three enterprise data centers that support administrative and research computing, including Midway 1, Midway 2, and the Genomic Data Commons.

The support teams provide 7/24 service to the University community, managing tools and services that provide reliable and secure computing resources to our users. I&O is also responsible for the support of collaboration tools, such as Office 365, Zoom and Box.
