Ayiti Mon Amour by Guetty Felin (Haiti, 2017, 98 min) in French with English subtitles Introduced by author and cast member James Noel 

Guetty Felin’s film, set five years after the 2010 earthquake, eschews the images that readily sprung forth in the aftermath of the devastation. Guetty Felin is the first Haitian woman to direct and produce films. She is best known for Ayiti Mon Amour (2016), along with A Rooster on the Fire Escape, and Closer to the Dream (2010).

In Belle Époque Paris, accompanied by a young deliveryman on a scooter, little Kanak Dilili investigates the mysterious disappearances of some girls. She meets extraordinary men and women, who give her some clues. She discovers a few villains underground, the “Mâles-Maitres”, or Male Masters.

Pour se racheter une conduite, ce dernier accepte de préparer Neïla au prestigieux concours d’éloquence.
