TEACHER WORKSHOPS AT THE LOGAN CENTER

The Logan Center Matinee Program includes a professional development series for teachers. Each matinee is accompanied by a unique session designed to support teachers in building meaningful connections between performance experiences and classroom curriculum. These workshops are taught by arts professionals who are experienced educators. The professional development sessions provide an important space where teachers exchange ideas about how to effectively integrate arts learning into their classrooms. This series extends the field trip experience beyond the site visit and into the diverse learning spaces of each classroom.

Links to Professional Development sessions are included on our matinee page.

TEACHER WORKSHOPS AT THE OI

Every quarter, the OI offers a series of K-12 teacher workshops, which are open to all interested participants. Various themes concerning the history, art history, archaeology, and historiography of the Middle East and North Africa are covered during these workshops and a lesson plan is provided. This lesson plan is then presented in an hour-long interactive session that also includes examples of how these methodologies can be applied to other examples from the Middle East and North Africa.

The OI offers a variety of adult education classes studying the Middle East and North Africa throughout the year. If you want to learn to read Egyptian hieroglyphs, learn about archaeology, or investigate everything from Anatolian linguistics to the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb, there is a class for you! Illinois teachers can earn PD hours. These classes are usually held in the evenings on weekdays online over Zoom, but are also recorded for those who cannot attend in person.
