This is the site of the Ancient Greek course of the University of Chicago’s Spring 2019 Study Abroad in Athens Program, Athens: Greek Antiquity and its Legacy. In this course we will work toward greater mastery of Greek by reading Plato’s Meno, a dialogue in which Socrates is approached by the titular character and asked about virtue. We will also read some related texts, including the characterizations of Meno and Anytus (another dramatis persona of the dialogue) found in Xenophon and Plutarch.
