Ancient Languages is a study group at the University of Chicago funded by the Council on Advanced Studies.

We are an interdisciplinary venue for presenting and discussing research on all facets of ancient languages. We aim to unite philological and linguistic frameworks for the critical study of ancient languages and we welcome research grounded in different theoretical perspectives, including formal linguistic, historical, corpus-based, typological, cognitive, or text-critical models, inter alia. This study group involves both discussion of relevant published papers and presentations by students and faculty alike on on-going research. Talks on all ancient languages are welcome.

Feel free to contact our student coordinator Matthew Hewett if you have questions or if you’d like to get involved!
