Benzene - Undergraduate Chemistry Society

Benzene Board

Jack LeGrow

Jack LeGrow

Co-President

Jack (he/him/his) is a third-year in the College majoring in Chemistry and Physics. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, he always makes sure to remind others that Kanye also left his southern origins in A-Town for life in ChiCity. More of an art kid before college, Jack discovered that playing with chemicals is as much an art form as anything else and now believes that chemistry is the foundation to building a better world. As one of the co-presidents of Benzene, he hopes to build and sustain a network amongst the chemistry community at UChicago and peak others’ interest in the subject.

Outside of Benzene, Jack works three jobs as a campus tour guide, CLOC TL, and research assistant to Prof. Jiwoong Park in the research area of physical/materials chemistry. In the free time he manages to find (albeit by procrastinating from other work), he likes to play the guitar, cook, and read every Haruki Murakami book he can get his hands on.

He is honored and excited to serve on the Benzene board this year, and he patiently awaits the inauguration of ChemScav. If you have any questions, concerns, or want to share any wacky recipes for him to cook, feel free to email him at jdlegrow@uchicago.edu.
