Jasmin Tiro, PhD

Dr. Tiro is a Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences and Associate Director of Cancer Prevention and Population Science for the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is a behavioral scientist focused in cancer care delivery research.

Elbert Huang, MD
Professor of Medicine The University of Chicago
Dr. Huang is Professor of Medicine, Director of the Center for Chronic Disease Research and Policy, and Associate Director of the Chicago Center for Diabetes Translation Research at the University of Chicago. He is also serving as senior advisor to Erin Adams on community-engaged research.

David Meltzer, MD, PhD
Associate Dean for Clinical Science Research, Translational The University of Chicago
Dr. Meltzer is the Fanny L. Pritzker Professor and Chief of the Section of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Medicine. He has a PhD in economics and holds secondary appointments in in the Harris School of Public Policy and the Department of Economics. He also directs the Center for Health and the Social Sciences (CHeSS) and the UChicago Urban Health Lab.

Melvin Thompson, MBA

Melvin provides community-engaged research consulting to academic institutions and connects them to the community for various research partnerships in Chicago and across the country. He also serves on multiple community advisory boards in the field of clinical research.

Aaron Esser-Kahn, PhD
Professor of Molecular Engineering in the UChicago Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering
Dr. Esser-Kahn’s research focuses are immunoengineering, improving immune responses in vaccination, and materials that mimic the human body in their ability to respond and adapt to an external environment. Dr. Esser-Kahn is committeed to improving how research aligns with healthcare to achieve better health outcomes.

Elena Zinchenko, EdD
Assistant Vice Provost for Research
Dr. Zinchenko leads strategic planning and implementation of major research initiatives in the Office of Research and across Divisions. Her other responsibilities include the development of institutional analytics, benchmarking and projections for federal and corporate funding, and the metrics for broader impacts of research.

Silvia Minardi, PhD, MS
Associate Director, Office of Research Development
Dr. Minardi collaborates with UChicago faculty to strategically identify and pursue large-scale, multidisciplinary funding opportunities from federal and philanthropic sources. She also supports cross-divisional teams in advancing new research initiatives both within the University and through external partnerships.
