Our electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrometer is one of just a few in the greater Chicagoland area, and it is available to users outside the University of Chicago. Please contact the facility manager for training and access.

Bruker Elexsys E-500 X-Band EPR

This instrument is used for routine electron paramagnetic spectroscopy. It is equipped with a helium cryocooler system that keeps samples down at 15 K without liquid helium.

Console

• Bruker Elexsys E-500
• X-band

Resonator & Cryostat

  • Dual-mode resonator for perpendicular and parallel mode data collection
  • Oxford ESR900 helium cryostat, supplied by either cryocooling system (default) or liquid helium

Cryocooling system

  • The Stinger™ by ColdEdge Technologies
  • System cools samples to ~15K
