UIC EVL: My 3D Campus Buildings Are Part of The Big Picture

The virtual campus has come a long way. I was contacted by Scott Stocking, GISP, about my 3D buildings about three years ago. He was taking on a project that was exactly what I had envisioned when I started building my virtual campus: a virtual campus that would include everything! Buildings, roads, sidewalks, trees, underground elements, etc. — even the interior of buildings. Scott has created an unbelievably detailed 3D virtual campus. This project, known as the “SDI Program,” will support three key areas: Visualization, Spatial Catalog, and Modeling/Analytics. The SDI Program will also support all FS operational domains: Plan, Design, Construction, Operate. The data utilized in building this visualization consist of GIS: City Engine, CAD, BIM, and Sketch UP models. Everything is brought into Unity, a gaming software, for the final model.
