DemonBase is currently a work-in-progress Filemaker database with an incomplete cataloging of liminal entities from ancient Egypt. This version of the database was created and actively updated between 2013–2017. Access to the Filemaker database is available by clicking “Sign In as Guest” at the following link:
Each individual demon has an ID number, as does each source object. Because the focus is on each entity, to get details on the object please visit the relevant museum website. Since most beings are hybrids, we have divided their features into “head,” “lower torso,” “upper torso,” and other features such as “headgear,” poses,” “gestures,” etc.

If you see the image above, it means that no drawing has been done yet.
Sources
While liminal entities appear on all sorts of objects, those presented in DemonBase v.1.0 are found on one of four types:
- Coffin Texts compositions most often found on the inside and outside of coffins from the First Intermediate Period–Middle Kingdom, ca. 2180–1700 BCE.
- Decorated Head Rests from the New Kingdom 1550–1070 BCE.
- Carved Ivory Tusks also known as apotropaia, wands, or birth tusks from the Middle Kingdom 1800–1700 BCE.
- Book of the Dead Manuscripts from New Kingdom 1550–1070 BCE (only complete examples are included here).
