The Workshop on the Early Modern World (EMW) invites proposals for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year.

This workshop is designed to provide an interdisciplinary forum for graduate students and scholars who focus on any aspect of the early modern experience (ca. 1400-1800 CE), broadly defined. We welcome written works in progress of all kinds, whether a dissertation or book chapter, an article, a prospectus, or a master’s thesis.

If you wish to present, please complete the linked Google Form. Our workshop holds in-person and hybrid sessions (via Zoom). In-person sessions meet on Wednesdays from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, approximately twice a month, but we will accommodate presenter schedules with sufficiently advanced notice. Our regular meeting location is Pick Hall 105. Our workshop precirculates written work-in-progress, and allows for a brief Q&A with a respondent of the organizers’ selection before opening the floor to questions from all attendees. We prioritize a collaborative, generous spirit of inquiry and consider our workshop a welcoming space for scholars across disciplines and career stages who seek substantive feedback, delivered with warmth.

Please submit your form by Wednesday, September 24. We will announce our Autumn Quarter schedule in Week 1.

please contact your organizers, Maureen and Kate, with any questions.
