Jenny LeFlore, founder of Mama Fresh Chicago, is hosting “Mama Fresh Family Days” at the Downtown Hyde Park Farmers Market at Harper Court on the first Thursdays of June, August, September, and October, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The events are sponsored by the University of Chicago in partnership with Downtown Hyde Park and the South East Chicago Commission.
LeFlore is a local Bronzeville mom with a three year old son. She’s been featured in the Chicago Tribune and Red Eye and on Windy City Live, and Vocalo. She hosts the popular Baby Soul Jam events at The Promontory, and is now a contributor to Chicago Parent magazine.
In her Red Eye interview, LeFlore mentioned, “…the vision of Mama Fresh is to create and to ignite a community of motherhood where diversity is celebrated. Not only tolerated, but celebrated. I empower mamas to pack up their little ones and to explore their community, city and the world. Everything I do comes back to that. That’s all I want to do.”
LeFlore strives to highlight and plan family events on the South Side, and said, “I am so excited to bring four weeks of hand-picked Mama Fresh activities to the Hyde Park Farmers Market with some of my favorite kid musicians, fitness classes, crafts, and more – it’s going to be a great summer!”

The Downtown Hyde Park Farmers Market takes place on Thursdays from June through October, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Harper Court, 5235 S. Harper Court. This season there will be many vendors with produce, flowers, baked goods, and jams/jellies, in addition to hand-crafted items by local artisans.
