“Check, Please!” to Film at Hyde Park’s Saucy Porka Restaurant This Week

It was mid-July when Saucy Porka chef/owner Amy Le received a phone call from the producers of WTTW’s “Check, Please!,” letting her know that her Hyde Park restaurant had been recommended by a local customer for the television show, based on its unique, Asian-Latin fusion menu. By late July, three producers came to the restaurant to try the food, staying for about two hours and chatting with Le. “I was initially told that Saucy Porka was one of ten Chicago restaurants they were considering for the show, and now we have been selected as one of the three to be filmed for an upcoming episode,” explained Le.

The filming happens this week – on Thursday, September 12, from 5-6:30 p.m. – and everyone is invited to come to Saucy Porka at 1164 E. 55th Street in Hyde Park for a chance to be in the episode.

“If you’re a foodie and you want to know where the locals love to eat, ‘Check, Please!’ is an incredible guide for diners,” said Le. “We just celebrated our first anniversary as part of the Hyde Park community. It means so much to us to be chosen for the show.  It’s a real testament to how our food has been able to connect with such a wonderful, diverse community.”

Le first opened Saucy Porka in the South Loop in May 2013, and the Hyde Park location opened in August 2018. If you can’t visit the restaurant for the filming, Saucy Porka’s Hyde Park location is open Monday-Friday, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in addition to catering options.
