Stamp’Lay’s Executive Salon Boutique Hosts Free Neighborhood Lunch on Saturday, August 8

Anyone who knows Kimberly Stampley, owner of Hyde Park’s Stamp’Lay’s Executive Salon Boutique, knows about her passion for community service and acts of neighborhood kindness.

Stampley is hosting a free lunch giveaway on Saturday, August 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in front of her store at 1371 E. 53rd Street. She will be providing neighbors and those experiencing homelessness with a turkey sandwich, apple, and water packaged in a lunch bag. Supplies are limited, and Stampley is hoping to feed 75-100 people.

Lunches will be given out by participants in the One Summer Chicago program, in which “…government institutions, community-based organizations and companies…offer over 30,000 employment and internship opportunities to youth and young adults ages 14 to 24.”

Stampley is currently serving as a teacher/employer in the program, offering motivational speaking and marketing mentorship for her group of 22 students, ages 16-18. She hosts Zoom sessions Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. through 1 p.m., and has brought small groups of masked and socially distanced students into the store to learn about retail inventory and display, while color-coordinating merchandise for a photo shoot. As one of their projects, Stampley is helping the students to write short bios for their planned virtual magazine, “Youth You Should Know.”
