The University of Chicago’s Commercial Real Estate Operations (CREO) and Office of Civic Engagement (OCE) teams are hosting the “Hyde Park is Hiring” event on Tuesday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Harper Court. The event is organized in association with Downtown Hyde Park, the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce, the South East Chicago Commission (SECC), and the offices of 4th ward Alderman Sophia King and 5th ward Alderman Leslie Hairston.
Hiring representatives from 20+ local businesses will be staffing tables to personally meet job applicants. Participating stores, restaurants, and hotels at the event include 14 Parish, Busted Bra Shop, David Rubenstein Forum and Quadrangle Club at The University of Chicago, Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea, Ivy Residences, Ja’ Grill, Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria & Brewery, Kemit Academy, Kilwins, Love & Light Cafe, MBC Financial Strategies, Nella Pizza e Pasta, Philz Coffee, Stan’s Donuts & Coffee, Trader Joe’s, The Revival, The Silver Room, She Fit, Sophy Hotel, The Study Hotel, sweetgreen, Virtue Restaurant, Wesley’s Shoes, and more.
Businesses are looking to hire for a wide variety of positions including restaurant front and back of house, retail salespeople/cashiers, office, and hotel workers. There are also positions for baristas, fitness coaches, and a tech booth operator.
Graphics for the event were created by local designer Lashun Tines – a board member of Chicago Ideas Week, contributor to Chicago’s independent art scene, former Diversity Lead for AIGA Chicago, and former Creative Director for The Metropolitan Board of the Chicago Urban League.
