25 May – Stephanie Mudge – “First-Person Political Economy”

Dear All,

Please mark your calendars for our final outside speaker this year! Stephanie Mudge is associate professor of Sociology at UC Davis and author of the monumental Leftism Reinvented: Western Parties from Socialism to Neoliberalism.

Professor Mudge will be giving a talk, in person in HM 145, on methodological considerations surrounding her new project, “Strategy and Democracy,” titled “First-Person Political Economy.

We will have a mixed format (zoom invite here). Hope you see you all there!

The Harvard Political Economy of Modern Capitalism workshop and the UChicago History and Theory of Capitalism Workshop are excited to announce the next event in our joint lecture series. If you are reading this, you are cordially invited to attend!

On Wednesday April 27th, 3:30-5 pm ESTStanziani Alessandro will give a talk on his new book, Capital terre: Une histoire longue du monde d’après, XIIe-XXIe siècle.

The introduction and chapter 11 are available, in English for the first time, here!

The lecture will be followed by a Q&A and discussion period.

His paper, “Karl Polanyi’s fin de siècle: Debtors and creditors at the World Economic Conference, London 1933″ will be circulated via our listserv.
