Medical Student Research Rotation (volunteer)
This position is ideal for medical students at UChicago who wish to gain more experience in biostatistical research, particularly in the areas of organ allocation, healthcare resource allocation, and crisis standards of care.
Basic knowledge of statistics and experience using data analysis software (e.g., R) is preferred.
Students are expected to commit to working on research projects in the lab for a minimum of three months, ideally longer. During a research rotation, students will conduct analysis of patient health data, create data visualizations, and co-author and/or first-author conference presentations and manuscripts for publication in medical journals.
Our lab has a track record of publishing manuscripts first-authored by med students and preparing students for competetitve medical residency programs (see where our alumni are now!) Students who are invested in their research experience will walk away with a plethora of advanced knowledge and practical skills in biostatistics and many accomplishments to add to their CVs.
If you are interested in joining the team, please email Will Parker (william.parker@bsd.uchicago.edu) and CC Haley Beck (haley.beck@bsd.uchicago.edu).
