Distribution Switch

Project Description: Refresh of Distribution Switch Pair(s):

  • QTY (1) in G30 – QTY (1) in H01
  • QTY (1) in A22 – QTY (1) in A71
  • QTY (1) in B65 – QTY (1) in B98
  • QTY (1) in D16 – QTY (1) in D19
  • QTY (1) in D24 – QTY (1) in D36

Project Purpose/Business Need: Implement a Distribution switch solution to integrate with both the Core and Aggregate switching platform.  This solution will maximize strategic design, reduce product support cost(s), and produce a cohesive infrastructure standard.

Project Scope: The overall solution is to refresh the entire user distribution switch infrastructure.

The assigned ITS team will replace existing cable for all established connections.  This will create alternate fiber paths and minimize the physical disconnect and reconnect at the time of cutover.

At the time of migration, the assigned ITS team will separately migrate each individual Distribution Switch (per pair) at a time, during the cutover window.  This will have minimal impact, and will only temporarily remove redundancy.

This project will occur within up to five (5) switch pairs.

Deployment I will involve the initial switch pair, residing quantity one (1) within the G30 and quantity one (1) within the H01.

Deployment(s) II – V will consist of the existing switch Pair(s):

  • QTY (1) in A22 – QTY (1) in A71
  • QTY (1) in B65 – QTY (1) in B98
  • QTY (1) in D16 – QTY (1) in D19
  • QTY (1) in D24 – QTY (1) in D36

IT Partners Impacted by Project: Distribution Switch Pair (A22 and A71) reside within the uChicago Medical Center
