Think about one English word to describe myself, I think “creative” is the most appropriate one that represents one of my characteristics, as well as the work I’ve done in the past few years.
Hello world, my name is Junshu Liu(刘俊术), or you can call me Ted. I’m currently a master student at the University of Chicago majoring in Digital Studies of Language, Culture, and History. Since August 2014, I’ve been started my adventure, living, learning and discovering in the United States.
When I was in college, I always told my self to “do what you love to do”, and I realized that Human-Computer Interaction and Digital Media are my favorite things, and they ended up with my focuses of study. To be specific, I’ve spent a lot of time on my laptop for front-end development, UI/UX design for web and apps, graphic design, digital art, and interactive media system. As one of my hobbies, I love making videos.
I want to make some impact. Instead of just being a programmer or a technician, I always focus on two things: new ideas coming out from my brain; and new trends in today’s tech industry and the entire business world. My mission is to design and make products that are easy to use for end users and provide solutions to solve real-life problems. Or, describe it in a word, “how technology could change our lives”.
This is my portfolio website, as well as a melting pot of technology, design thinking, and everything about digital. My projects are sorted into five categories, including Digital Arts & Interactive Media, UI/UX & Interaction Design (both of these are highly related to HCI), Graphic Design & Visual Arts, Video Editing, Films & Creative Directing, and Mini Apps & Games.
Besides my projects, I’d also like to share my thoughts. I’m a tech lover and gadget-addictive, but besides those tech specs and details, I prefer to explore how technologies, like smart home, VR/AR, and paperless officing, will shape our future lifestyle. Plus, as a creator and adventurer who loves my life, I will show you something that I enjoy as hobbies like video editing and traveling, and what I’ve discovered and thought in a unique perspective, from Qingdao to Chicago, from tea to coffee, from the traditional Chinese calligraphy to the Western electronic dance music, and from digital culture to culture differences.
I believe that I should do something that will change the way people live and let the world remember. Or, I prefer to say in this way –
Make a difference, and change the world.
See my resume, and what courses that I’ve taken.
