We used a “phase tracking” approach to stabilize a time-domain heterodyne SFG spectrometer. This approach will be widely useful for other phase-sensitive spectroscopies, from vibrational SFG to 2D spectroscopy!

In this paper we uncovered previously hidden modifications of the optical selection rules at the edges of black phosphorus. The 10s of nm spatial resolution of our photoemission microscope was critical for observing the edge-dependent optical polarization anisotropy.
