I’m pleased to announce the next meeting of the Late Antique and Byzantine Workshop on Tuesday, February 7 at 4:30pm. As usual, we will be in the Cochrane-Woods Art Center (5540 S. Greenwood Ave.), Room 152. For a campus map, see: http://maps.uchicago.edu/north/cw_arts.html
Our speaker is Matthew J. Milliner, Assistant Professor of Art at Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL. He will be presenting a paper entitled, “Towards a Theological Interpretation of Byzantine Art,” drawn from his recent dissertation, “The Virgin of the Passion: Development, Dissemination, and Afterlife of a Byzantine Icon Type” (Princeton University, 2011).
Join us in welcoming a new colleague in Byzantine studies to the Chicago community!
Persons in need of assistance, contact Kristine Larison (kmh@uchicago.edu).
