Gregory Wendt is a partner and has spent 32 years at Capital Group, a privately held company that manages $1.8 trillion in assets and is the largest active equity manager in the world. In addition to his more than thirty years of investment experience, Wendt possesses twenty years of non-profit board experience.

Wendt joined Capital Group in 1987 after earning a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University. Wendt is also the president and a director of SMALLCAP World Fund, which, with assets of more than $25 billion, is the nation’s largest mutual fund focused on investing in small capitalization companies. SMALLCAP World Fund won the designation of “Best Fund Over the Past 10 Years” from Lipper in 2014.

He also holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago, where he has served on the Board of Trustees since 2006. He has been a leader of the University of Chicago’s Odyssey Scholarship Program, which eliminates loans for students from low-income backgrounds.

Wendt has served on the national board of Teach for America (TFA) for the past 20 years. He was the founder of TFA’s efforts in Missouri and served as the first board chair of TFA-St. Louis. A deep believer in charter schools, Wendt also founded the Knowledge is Power Program’s (KIPP) efforts in St. Louis. He continues to serve as founding chair and a board member of KIPP-St. Louis, having also taken on the role as KIPP’s first board chair in St. Louis.

Wendt also served as a senior advisor to U.S. Senator John McCain during his 2008 Presidential campaign. He also co-chaired Missouri Governor Jay Nixon’s commission on the 2009 Economic Stimulus.
