THE IMPORTANCE OF PLACE

Every societal issue examined has implications for real people, in real time, in real places. We will use our connection to Chicago and Global Centers as gateways for learning and action.

Chicago in the classroom

The University has a deep, meaningful, and growing relationship with its neighbors all across Chicago. LSI will intentionally aim to build on this partnership and to examine Chicago as a recurring case study of how urban communities are working together to address challenging social, economic, and environmental issues.

Global exploration

All societal issues have a global dimension. LSI will take advantage of the University’s eight Global Campuses and Centers and international networks to provide a week-long immersive exploration abroad, bringing a worldwide lens on proven interventions and solutions.
