Justice, Equity, Inclusion

I think of my lab as a safe place for all young scientists independent of race, ethnicity, country of origin, gender, sexuality, family financial situations, and any other identity that continues to experience the burden of systemic and institutional, as well as personal, obstacles. I care about the people in my lab, and while excellence in science is the primary, binding goal for us, I do not consider this to be separable from who each of my trainees are. The beauty of research is that it reflects the individual and diversity in ideas and strategies necessitates a diversity in the people creating the research.

There is much work to do, and much to learn, and I will keep working and learning.
