Annual Alumni Weekend
Trivia Challenge 

In 2018, the Alumni Board started the annual Are You Smarter Than a Preceptor? Trivia Challenge during Alumni Weekend. MAPSS Alumni and Preceptors face off in the ultimate battle of trivial pursuit, with custom categories like Social Science and UChicago/ Chicago City History.

Alumni also participate in other campus activities throughout the weekend, and enjoy fun traditions like swag and beer tents in the Main Quadrangle. 

Shuffleboard Night at Royal Palms

In November 2019, the Board and fellow area alumni got together for cocktails, tamales, and shuffleboard at Royal Palms Chicago.

Habitat for Humanity Day:
Pullman Neighborhood

In August 2018, the Alumni Board raised $1,057 for Habitat for Humanity and participated in a build day in the historic Pullman Neighborhood. We cut drywall to size and installed it across two floors in two new homes. We even got the meet the families who would be moving in shortly thereafter.

(The team also stopped by Old Fashioned Donuts, a staple in the local community for 40+ years.)

Field Museum Tour: Ancient Mediterranean Cultures in Contact

In March 2018, Alumni and their families enjoyed a private tour at the Field Museum’s Ancient Mediterranean Cultures in Contact exhibit hosted by Dr. Emily Teeter, an Egyptologist who recently retired from Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago. She received her PhD in Egyptology from the UChicago. She is the author of a wide range of scholarly and popular articles that have been published in journals in the United States and abroad.
