Miller Woods Late Spring – Pt3

continued from Pt2.

Almost everywhere I looked there were Lupine.  Here another Carolina Puccoon is about to blossom and add a bit of yellow contrast.


Even without the flowers, I found the patterns created by the leaves of the Lupine plants to be mesmerizing.


Wood Betony was in abundance as well.


This image clearly shows the difference between the portion of the park which had undergone the proscribed burn (on the left of the trail) as compared to the area which was swept by the wildfire.  On the wildfire side there were more badly charred trees including large branches and limbs.

At this point I was nearly out of the woods and approaching the sand dunes leading to the beach.  Continued in Pt4….
