These Six Lined Racerunners are common throughout the Dunes area. They are really difficult to see however as they are super quick to dash into the ground cover at the sound of your approaching footsteps. I caught this fellow enjoying the heat of a sidewalk on a cool afternoon, he didn’t seem to mind my presence.
The tight clustering and white pedals make Asters stand out.
Another example of an accidental capture. I was taking a picture of the iris and was not until later that I noticed I had captured an incoming hornet. Since it was a bright day I was using a high enough shutter speed that I captured the hornet without much motion blur.
