Dune Ridge Trail Pt1

Some of my favorite images from the Dune Ridge trail in the Indiana Dunes National Park.

One of the best views of the Great Marsh in the entire park.  In summer the foliage alongside the trail can be so dense that your view is pretty restricted.  But in early fall a enough of the undergrowth had died off to open up views like this.

Ouch!  You know it when you when you wade into these suckers.  They are long, strong and form quite a thicket along this trail.  I kneeled on one when setting up for a photo and it put a nice straight line of holes in my knee.

I love the way these little fellas grow in clusters.

The colors, textures and patterns in decaying leaves are always fascinating to me.

These tiny little orange fungi were a fun find.

I love the lines and subtle color gradations in this branch amid the amber colored leaves.
