Dune Ridge Trail Pt2

continued from Pt1.

Starting up the trail to the top of the ridge.  The path is short but very sandy and very up and down.

The pairs of curly leaves caught my eye.

A large sheet of bark has come off this dead tree, revealing the white thread-like Mycelium which are the fungal bacterial colonies which produce the Polyspores that you so frequently fine covering dead wood.

And here we have a bracket fungus which is the fruiting body of the underlying Mycelium.

Lovely lichen.

Sometimes I like best the final stages of the mushroom after it has released its spores.
