Found a new type of crystal to photograph in cross-polarized light using a microscope.  β-Alanine is an amino acid which occurs naturally in the body.  It can also be purchased as a dietary supplement to enhance workouts.  That part does not concern me, I discovered that it creates stunningly beautiful birefringent crystals.
