The West Beach Trail at the Indiana Dunes National Park is one of three short trails which originate from the West Beach parking lot. All three trails; Dune Succession, Long Lake and West Beach can be done as one continuous circuit. Being right along the lake all three trails are composed of very loose sand. The West Beach Trail is quite flat in comparison to the other two. Several times I have hit it after hiking another longer trail elsewhere in the park as it is a relatively short, hike and is also on the way home. The trail is a great place to see Eastern Prickly Pear cacti.
