Jeff Kurkewich, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Scholar

Jeff received a B.S. degree in biological sciences from Eastern Illinois University, where he graduated with honors in 2012. He obtained his PhD at the University of Notre Dame, where his project focused on the role of microRNAs in murine hematopoietic cell fate decisions. Jeff completed his PhD in the spring of 2017 with four first author and four co-author primary literature manuscripts. His current research goals are to elucidate the role of the transcription factor CUX1 in higher-order genome architecture, and to assess its role in the biology of human hematopoietic stem cells.  Jeff is the recipient of the 2019 BSD Career Advancement for Postdocs Travel Award, the NIH/NCI Loan Repayment Program, 2019 FASEB Hematologic Malignancies Oral Presentation Award, and NIH/NHLBI F32 HL152524.  He is currently a Senior Genomic Scientist at Delfi Diagnostics, Baltimore, MD.
