I am pleased to present Evelyn Richardson (Ph.D. Candidate in Comparative Literature) who will present his dissertation chapter “History as ‘Mainstay of Certainty’: Arabic Historical Thought in the Tanzimat Era” with the discussant Prof. Ahmed El Shamsy (NELC). Please try to read Eveyln’s chapter for an informed discussion and please do not cite or circulate it without the author’s permission.
