About Us

Learn more about the UChicago Moot Court team

the basics

Who are we?

The Moot Court team is one of UChicago’s most successful debate-style teams. We engage in mock Supreme Court arguments across the country and internationally. We read case law, formulate arguments, and practice our presentation skills to send our Oral Advocates to competition and our Brief Writers to create detailed documents.

How can I join?

We recruit in the fall and the spring. You can try out in the fall for the Oral Advocacy team, which consists of traveling to a variety of competitions and delivering speeches. You can also join our Brief Writing team and prepare pieces of thorough legal writing for submission to a variety of competitions. If you join in the spring, you will have the opportunity to compete in a spring intra-team invitational as well as write a brief.
