Anne-Marie M. Oswald studies the representation of odors and the formation of olfactory memories in the cortex. Her work spans from synapses to circuits to networks and seeks to understand cortical circuit plasticity in learning and memory. The goal is to shed light on how the brain represents sensory information in neural activity and combines that information with meaning to inform our perception of the world around us.
Her research has been published in Cerebral Cortex, Frontiers in Neural Circuits, Journal of Neurophysiology, Journal of Neuroscience, Neuron, PLOS Computational Biology, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Oswald received a BSc in biology from Simon Fraser University and a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Ottawa. She conducted postdoctoral research at the Center for Neural Science at New York University and at Carnegie Mellon University. Most recently, she was an associate professor of neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh.
