Brett Palama

Brett Palama is a pediatric hospitalist whose scholarly interests focus on quality and performance improvement in pediatrics. His research focuses on interventions aiming to improve pediatric patient safety, with particular interest in pediatric medication safety, as well as prediction and detection of adverse events in hospitalized children. He is a research scholar in the Academic Pediatric Association Quality and Safety Improvement Scholars Program and serves as a quality improvement mentor in local and national projects.
His research has been published in Clinical Pediatrics, Endocrinology, and DNA Repair.
Palama earned a BS in biochemistry and biophysics from Oregon State University, followed by an MD from the University of Michigan Medical School. During medical school, he also completed an MS in clinical research at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He completed his internship, residency, and chief residency in pediatrics at the University of Chicago Medicine, and a fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.
