Jeffrey G. Stepan

Jeffrey G. Stepan is an orthopaedic hand surgeon who specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical management of common traumatic and atraumatic hand, wrist, and elbow conditions in the general pediatric and adult populations. He has specialized training in peripheral nerve surgery; microvascular surgery and reconstruction; congenital hand surgery; and management of sports injuries.
Stepan graduated summa cum laude from St. John’s University, where he played National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I soccer. He then earned an MD and MSc in clinical investigation from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. After medical school, he completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, where he was recognized with the Jean C. McDaniel Award for resident leadership and teaching. He then completed a hand and microvascular surgery fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
As a clinician-scientist, his research interests include tracking patient-rated outcome measures to optimize patient care, as well as alternative methods of controlling pain and reducing opioid consumption following orthopaedic surgery. His findings have been published in various peer-reviewed journals, including The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of Hand Surgery, and HAND.
