Department of Pediatrics
Neelima Marupudi’s interest in quality improvement has led to her goal of introducing the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Liberation Collaborative guidelines to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. These guidelines address the management of pain, agitation and sedation, delirium, immobility, and sleep disruption in the intensive care setting, and aim to improve patient outcomes while reducing the risk of long-term consequences.
Her research has been published in the Journal of Child Neurology, Critical Care Medicine, Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, and Pediatric Anesthesia.
Marupudi earned a BA from Dartmouth College, where she studied history, French, and biology. She received her MD from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, and completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at Emory University. She held a pediatric critical care medicine fellowship and served as an ICU hospitalist at the University of California, San Francisco. Over the course of her undergraduate and medical studies, she participated in research initiatives at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Weill Cornell Medicine Medical College, the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and the University of California, San Francisco. She also performed volunteer service in Thailand and India.
