Nehal Patel is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. Her primary research interests include febrile sickle cell disease and risk for urinary tract infections. She is also interested in medical education, specifically in hands-on and simulation-based learning.

Her research has been published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine. She has also contributed to two book chapters that were published in the Tarascon Pediatric Emergency Pocketbook. She is the recipient of an Audience Award from PemPIX, the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Emergency Medicine’s annual visual diagnosis competition and presentation.

Patel received a BS in anthropology from the University of Michigan and an MD from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in St. Kitts. She then completed a general pediatric residency at Beaumont Children’s Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, as well as a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
