Existential Risk

We want to explore risks that threaten the existence of all of humanity. This is a research area which has subfields that have been studied by economists, but much of it remains heavily undercovered. Together, we will dive into the various kinds of existential risk and learn about how economics can be used to both understand and potentially solve such risks.

Objectives
– Learn about economics through the lens of existential risk
– How to apply the economic method & approach to a wide variety of subjects – not just traditional markets!
– How to understand risk, where does economic theory diverge from real-world behavior
– Given this, how to craft and evaluate creative policy solutions to mitigate existential risks
– Have fun
