Religious Dimensions of Healthcare Delivery: A Multidisciplinary Workshop

By initiating conversations between allied health professionals including clinicians and chaplains, this multidisciplinary workshop will:

  • Highlight relationships between religious dimensions of health and healthcare delivery

  • Foster collaboration among allied health professionals to improve delivery of care

  • Assist health care professionals to understand the spiritual care resources available in a hospital

  • Enhance the ability of healthcare professionals to serve as advisers, counselors, and navigators to patients

  • Facilitate the incorporation of patients’ religious perspectives into healthcare interactions, including decision-making conversations

The workshop will be divided into 4 sessions, each comprising of an inter-religious panel presentation and a facilitated small group discussion or skill-building exercise. The session topics will include:

  • Definitions of Health and the Production of Health in Society

  • Professional Boundaries and Knowing When to Collaborate

  • Suffering and Pain: A Religious Healthcare Perspective

  • Vulnerability as Liability and Possibility: Religious & Professional Explorations

This activity is worth up to 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits and 10 CE Credits.
