What is PRAXIS?
Practicing Radical Action by eXpanding Inclusive Societies (PRAXIS) is a university-community-activist engagement model designed to promote social justice and health equity in injury prevention on the South Side of Chicago. Founded at the University of Chicago Trauma Center, PRAXIS represents an evidence-informed approach to firearm prevention that engages in critical trauma research and moves to action. Our aim is to explore the work of PRAXIS for public health, trauma and community activists as a potential novel model for inter-disciplinary violence prevention.
