Scholarships to Enhance and Empower the Development of Scientists (SEEDS)

SEEDS Workshop

August 24-28, 2025 at the University of Chicago

Welcome to SEEDS

SEEDS is a privately funded program whose goal is to increase the successful transition to and retention of early-career neuroscientists into academic positions.

It provides participants with long-term mentoring and professional enrichment, with a particular emphasis on assistance with preparation, submission, and revision of career development and research grant applications to NSF, NIH, and other private foundations.

This program is sponsored by the American Psychological Foundation (APF MFP fund)International Brain Research Organization (IBRO)Alzheimer’s Association, and Burroughs-Wellcome Fund.

“I’ve been involved in several neuroscience programs, and I can definitely say that SEEDS covered topics and discussions that have never come up in any other one I’ve been in. I think it is a great model that builds skills in grant writing, but also in navigating specific points of conflict specific to scientists trying to balance writing, teaching, and service.”
