Amber Bertin

Amber Bertin (she/her) is the Archivist at the Black Film Center & Archive. She manages acquisitions, processes collections, develops collection management strategies, and works with researchers and students to fulfill their scholarly objectives. She also works with professors and other educators to incorporate Black Film Center & Archive materials into classes and curriculums through visits, lectures, and class projects. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Colgate University, her Master’s degree from the University of Rochester, and a Film Preservation and Archiving certificate from the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation at the George Eastman Museum. Before joining the staff of the BFCA, she worked as an Assistant Film Archivist at the Indiana Libraries Moving Image Archive (IULMIA), as an Archival Processing Technician at Northeast Historic Film, and as an archival film projectionist at institutions such as the George Eastman Museum and the Flaherty International Film Seminar. Her professional interests include community archiving, building reparative archival spaces, and developing more equitable archival description practices.
