Charlotte Carter

Charlotte Carter has had a varied writing life, from prose poet attached to the New York School, to ghost writing in tandem with her late husband, to pulp fiction. She is the author of an acclaimed series featuring Nanette Hayes, a young Black American jazz musician with a lust for life and a talent for crime solving. Her work has appeared in a number of American and British anthologies. Published in England, her 2002 novel Walking Bones won critical praise and adamant fans in Europe and America. A new novel, Beauty in the Blood, is due to be published in 2023. A long-time resident of New York, Carter was born in Chicago, and has lived in the American Midwest, North Africa, and France.
