What’s Observable
Reading the observable object charts
By following the instructions in Asteroid Series 1, a page of data related to your query are returned.
Keeping Track of Time Zones
All of the times given at the site are in UT time. Stone Edge (Pacific Time) is UT- 8 hours. Central Time is UT-6 hours. If you’re keeping track of multiple time zones, or if you would rather not do all this in your head, you may find this site helpful: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html
The Observable Objects
At the bottom of the page is the list of objects that meet the criteria you input and are visible from the observatory you indicated. The output is all in UT time, and an explanation of each column is listed below the chart. From here you can choose one or more objects from which to request a detailed ephemeris so you can accurately point the telescope.
Each asteroid named in the list has a link to a page of additional information. Here you find details about the known properties of the object and, most importantly, a link to the ephemeris generator – HORIZONS.
