9/30-10/1: Stone Edge Observatory Workshop

Agenda:

Participants new to the SEO learn how to:

1.      log in to the SEO using the graphical user interface (GUI)

2.      use the basic tools from the practice GUI

3.      use Stellarium software to choose targets for observation

4.      request time on the telescope

5.      view and download images from the STARS Server

6.      apply best practices for getting what you want out of the SEO

7.       make a color image using Astro Image Processor

8.      consider projects, individual or team

 

Participants who have used the SEO in the past will:

1.      Refresh their understanding of the SOE operations

2.      Be introduced to new features and procedures

3.      Choose observing targets using Stellarium

4.      Take images using the SEO

5.      Learn to maximize their images using darks, flats and bias frames

6.      Create a color image

7.      Choose an observing project

a.      Photoetry and the HR Diagram

b.      Asteroids and the Moon

c.      Color imaging
